Dave and Shelly Hundling
Dave returned to his family farm after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. He had raised hogs as a youth in 4-H and added pork production to his farmstead utilizing the old facilities that had already been on his farm with little additional investment. Now, 30 years later, Dave and his family continue to use the same farm facilities with much of the same equipment. With the return to the farm by his son after college, Dave knew his only options were to raise pork just to get by, or move into niche pork marketing. Raising Berkshire pork for Eden Farms was just the right fit.
Dave and Shelley live on a Carroll County Century Farm near the town of Breda in west-central Iowa where they raised their children, Gretchen and Brice. Shelley is an elementary school substitute teacher and enjoys photography, cooking, and sings in a number of local vocal ensembles. Dave spends his "non-farm" hours enjoying a good book and collecting military memorabilia.

  1. "After visiting with Kelly Biensen, and reading of his endeavor to sell the Berkshire meat to “white tablecloth” restaurants, I thought that the Eden plan might be a good fit for us. Attending the first Eden Farms annual meeting, meeting members of the board, and visiting with other producers and business people who deal with Eden Farms affirmed my belief that we all have pride in the animals we raise and the products that customers enjoy.”
